Define the surfaces first
Walls are only one part of an interior. Ceilings, cornices, doors, frames, skirting, architraves, wardrobes and windows can each require a different preparation and coating system. A clear quote identifies which of them are included.
Condition determines preparation
Small filling and sanding may form part of normal repaint preparation. Widespread cracking, loose coatings, water damage or recurring stains can change the scope. Painting should not be treated as a repair for active moisture or structural movement.
Colours and existing finishes
A strong colour change, feature walls, stains or glossy trim can affect the planned system. The required finish should be discussed surface by surface so the quote is not based on an assumed colour or sheen.
Protection and occupied-home sequencing
Furniture movement, floor protection, access to kitchens or bathrooms, pets and daily clean-up all matter in an occupied home. Room-by-room sequencing may reduce disruption, while a vacant property can be organised differently.
